At NAIS Manila, our uniform creates a sense of identity, community, and pride. Our parents play a critical role in making sure their children wear our uniform smartly and correctly every day.
School uniform policy
It's school policy that all children wear our uniform when attending school, taking part in an event, or representing the school.
School uniform is important because it:
- Promotes a sense of pride in the school.
- Creates a feeling of community and belonging.
- Is practical and smart.
- Makes children feel equal to their peers.
The uniform is designed to be comfortable, safe and appropriate for use.
- Shoes:
- Please wear plain black shoes (with Velcro or laces) to school.
- Plain or predominantly white trainers must be worn for PE classes. These must be worn with white socks.
- Students can change from outdoor shoes to indoor shoes but these should both be plain black.
- Heels should be no more than 2cm.
- PE
- In general, all students will have two sessions of PE each week. On days when there are PE classes, the PE uniform can be worn. At all other times, students should wear our normal school uniform.
- Students will also have a swimming lesson once a week, and should wear regular uniform on that day, but bring their swimming costume, cap, goggles, and towel to change into.
- For secondary students, an alternate sport shirt (blue) can be worn after P.E. classes for rest of the day attire.
- Caps must be worn for outdoor playtime.
- For secondary students, the required school uniform for days with no sport is a light blue short sleeved shirt with tie. This should be worn tucked in with either trousers or shorts. Tie knots should be worn smartly up to the neck and at the bottom falls just above or over the belt buckle. On days with sport, secondary students may wear the blue sport shirt with trousers or shorts.
- Long hair should be tied back for safety reasons and there should be no jewellery, no makeup or piercings (except for earrings). Excessive hair colouring (colours considered as non-natural, for example, blue and green),. and radical hairstyles are not allowed.
- Skirts should be knee length or at the most, 2 inches above the knee.
Please do not bring expensive items to school. It is not the responsibility of the school if any item is lost, damaged or stolen.
Please note:
- Shoes: School shoes should be black leather (laces or Velcro) and PE trainers should be white (or predominantly white). Early years students can wear any shoes as long as they have Velcro fasteners. Trainers can be any material/colour.
- Socks: Children should wear black socks (available from our uniform supplier) with their normal uniform and plain white socks with their PE kit.
- House PE shirts: House PE shirts should be worn on inter-House competition days and other special events, which will be announced in advance.
- School bag: Appropriate school bags are available from the uniform shop. It's not compulsory to buy these, but it would be ideal if the children's school bags are in a similar make and form to the recommended uniform bag for your child's age group.
- Hair: Long hair should be neatly tied back in navy/black elastic bands. Excessive hair colouring (colours considered as non-natural hair colours, for example, blue, green) and excessive hair styles are not allowed.
- Jewellery: If earrings need to be worn, they should be plain studs. No other jewellery should be worn (unless for religious reasons).
- Swimming: NAIS Manila swimming costumes and caps are available from the uniform shop.
- Gymnastics: NAIS Manila leotards are available from the uniform shop.
Hats: We have a 'no hat, no play' rule at NAIS Manila, so please remember to send a school hat/cap with your child every day.
